HISTORY OF IRIDOLOGY
Iridology, in its current form has been in existence since 1670. Modern iridology is attributed to Dr. Von Peczely and Reverend Liljequist. Tradition holds that in 1837, Von Peczely, as a boy, captured an owl and in the process broke the owl's leg. At the time of the break, Von Peczely observed a streak appear in the 6 o'clock position of the owl's eye. As the leg healed, he observed the streak disappear. He later observed this same mark in a man's eye and pursued a medical career. He became known as the doctor who could diagnose by looking in one's eyes.
Nils Liljequest, a Swedish clergyman discovered iridology at about the same time as Von Peczely. He observed in his own eyes changes that would occur in color after he would ingest chemicals. He observed that each chemical/drug that he took into the body resulted in a particular shade of discoloration in the iris. Mr. Liljequest went on to develop an elementary iris chart that future iridologists have built upon.
WHAT IS IRIDOLOGY?
Iridology is the art and science of analyzing the color and structure of the iris of the eye to gain valuable health information. Iris analysis is about communication. Your body communicates with the iridologist using the iris as the vehicle of transmission.
WHAT IS AN IRIDOLOGY ANALYSIS?
Iridology is the study of the iris, particularly of its color, markings, changes, etc., that may be associated with strengths and weaknesses in the body. The iris, which is the colored portion of the eye is the part of the eye that is analyzed during an analysis. The iridologist looks at the iris to determine changes in constitution, coloring/pigmentation, specific markings, etc. in relation to established iridology charts. The chart that is used by iridologists is essentially a map of the iris that shows portions of the eye that correspond to specific areas/organs of the body.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AN IRIDOLOGY ANALYSIS
An complete intake form will need to be completed prior to or at the beginning of the session.
The analysis will be conducted in a private confidential setting that is relaxing and inviting. The goal is to maintain your comfort during the session.
The iridologist will use a magnifying glass and a light to analyze the eyes. The eye being analyzed will need to remain open for the iridologist to analyze the eye. It is expected that you will be able to blink as needed and take any breaks you need during the session.
The iridologist will then discuss with you what is observed in the eye.
Recommendations regarding lifestyle, diet, exercise, or potential referrals to a medical provider may be made during the explanation phase of the analysis.
At no time will the iridologist make any diagnose of any disease condition as the iridologist is not a medical provider. Iridology is not a substitute for appropriate medical care.
