WHAT IS THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
Therapeutic massage targets soft tissue and deeper muscle tissue in various parts of the body to bring about improvements in health and to relieve pain, increase range of motion, and improve recovery from injury. The focus of therapeutic massage is to target tense muscle fibers or muscle "knots" to relieve tension, increase blood flow, relieve pain, and increase flexibility. Therapeutic massage uses heavier pressure to release tissue located deeper in the body that cannot be effectively reached during a Swedish massage. Many of these deeper muscles become very tense or bound up resulting in compensation patterns and pain.
BENEFITS OF THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE?
The therapist will use moderate to deep pressure and include strokes designed to go deep into the muscle to release tension and adhesions that are causing pain and/or restricted range of motion. The therapeutic massage will dedicate additional focus to areas of the body that are painful, spasming, and/or experiencing a reduced range of motion. At Rejuvenate Massage, a therapeutic massage is a full body massage unless the client requests a specific area of the body be excluded.
A full-body massage includes massage to the head, face, neck, back, arms, hands, legs, and feet.
The client will remain draped and covered throughout the entirety of the massage. Only the area of the body being actively massaged will be undraped at any given time. At no time, will the pelvic region or chest be undraped/exposed.
